Skirt or Sin Tiin Chok, Tai Yuan, Ratchaburi Province, Thailand, 1890-1920.
This skirt was found in central Thailand, although the Tai Yuan generally live in the kingdom’s northern region. A segment of their population was resettled around Bangkok at the end of the 18th century. This minority preserved their culture and did not assimilate into central Thai society. Today, they continue their customs, including language and textiles.
